What is Shockwave Flash?
Shockwave flash is a feature incorporated into new
browsers that enables the viewing of animations across
the web. These animations provide for a much better
integrated menuing system for easier navigation of
the site. We have decided to incorporate this technology
into our web site, though we will support a non-shockwave
version of the site.
Shockwave has been around for over
5 years, and is a standard of web publishing. It is
produced by Macromedia Inc. and is distributed as
a free download for older (version 3) browsers. Currently,
both Microsoft and Netscape are including support
for Shockwave in their latest browsers.
What do I need to install?
Flash - if you enter the shockwave
flash site you may be prompted to install flash by
a warning screen on your browser. Press okay, and
let the browser update automatically. On some older
browsers, you may need to manually download a file
to install. If you see a blank screen with a small
picture on it, click on the picture and you will be
taken to an area to install the file. Documentation
is provided on the Macromedia
web site, however we strongly recommend updating your
browser first.
How do I install flash?
Netscape: To load the Shockwave Flash plugin for your
browser, please press the "Get Shockwave"
button on the front page. This will take you to the
Macromedia download page. Hit the "download now"
button and save the file to your hard disk. Quit your
browser and double click the installer. Follow the
instructions on the screen. You will only need to
do this once.
Internet Explorer: To load the Shockwave
Flash plugin for your browser, please press the "Get
Shockwave" button on the front page. This will
take you to the Macromedia download page. Hit the
"autoinstall" button and follow the instructions
on the page for dialog boxes. You will only need to
do this once.
Do I have to watch the animation
every time I go to the first page?
No. On the first page, there is an option to go to
a non-animated page if you move the mouse to the "Financial
Services" image on the top left of the screen.
Click to find a non-animated version of the home page,
and bookmark that page.
