The Selk´nam language was spoken by the hunters of Tierra del Fuego, XII region, who disappeared during the first decade of the XXth century.

 

Some words and their meaning:

 

Kree: moon

Akainik: rainbow

Shénu: wind

Hosh: snow

Ka: people

Kámuka: people of the north (onas)

Winteka: people of the east (Huash)

Kenémika: people of the south (Yagán)

Tul: heart

Tul-jippen: bad heart
